I reckon that the classic song, nothing but " Blue Skies" must be The Greek Prime Minister's favourite song.He saw these blue skies before the election last year,as you will see from what he said then, and he is seeing them again now.
This is what Samaras the Greek Prime Minister said, amongst other things, before the election on 17th June 2012.Strange that no media outlet reminds us of these election pledges.
1.Restoration of very low pensions for parents of more children at 2009 levels and specific benefits.
2. No further cuts in the private sector.
3. Extension of unemployment benefit to two years.
4.Unemployment benefit to self- employed who are currently not entitled.
5. Tax regulation not to exceed 25% of the average family.
6.Increase the tax free income from 5000 euros to 8000 euros and later to 10,000 euros.
7. Replace the 'emergency property tax'.Did anyone really believe this ?
8 Reduction of tax rates for business.
9. Immediate reduction of vat in the catering sector at the level of 9% already in the next year.
So the whole of the catering industry voted for this. . Did it happen ? Funny , so funny that it didn't, but even funnier that anyone believed that it would.
10. Progressive tax reductions for individuals up to 32% from 45% today.
11. No lay-off for civil servants for three years. And they all voted for him, because they believed their jobs were safe.
12 No other horizontal cuts.
13 No more reductions in wages and salaries and pensions. Yes, it is rather sad how gullible people are.
14 Not another tax.
15 Combat illegal immigration and crime

Amazing he didn't add that he had also arranged for Santa Claus to give all the parents of children presents next Christmas, and that Easter Bunnies will dance for everyone this year , and that the Greek Gods will return shortly.
How strange how politicians always change once elected.
