I saw a circle around the moon some time ago and wrote a blog post on it. at the time.Yesterday while walking out in the baking sunshine in Greece, I was amazed to see a pinkish-white circle around the sun. It was a very thick, large circle, and was some fair distance from the fiery orb.
It wasn't, thank God, my eyesight going askew as other people saw it too.I have never in my life seen this before, and nor have anyone else I know, but, don't worry, according to the Internet, it is a common occurrence.
The reason it appears is, it is boldly claimed, because of the following.
" A ring or circle of light around the sun or moon is called a halo by scientists. These clouds contain millions of tiny ice particles. They are a sign of thin cirrus clouds drifting high above our heads. They are a sign of nearby storms." Seehttp://earthsky.org/space/what-makes-a-halo-around-the-moon
Or how about this: ?A halo around the sun or moon may be a sign of rain or snow approaching.
Seehttp://topics.info.com/Is-a-halo-around-the-sun-or-moon-a-sign-of-rain-or-snow-approaching_3050
The halo is meant to be caused by millions of tiny ice particles.Yet, the following site never mentions ice particles in the Troposphere, though it does mention lower temperatures.Seehttp://library.thinkquest.org/C003124/en/atmos.htm
However, according to http://www.atmos-chem-phys.net/9/6881/2009/acp-9-6881-2009.pdf, which I admit is quite technical and hard to understand, it seems to me that these halos are more likely to be seen in the Artic Troposphere., or when the temperatures are cold.
So, what was this halo doing over Greece? On a day that was really hot ?
Also, no storm, tempest , snowfall or bucket loads of rain followed these sighting, yet according to the scientists such extreme weather usually follows such a sighting..
It reminds me of the rather more imaginative explanation that was given for the thousands of dead birds dropping out of the sky, and that this was because they were drunk !And , that , oh so trusted institution, The B.B. C. reported this. Seehttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/12170571
The real reason for the dead birds is the following:
Perhaps the American government is behind these halos around the sun in hot countries. Could it be something to do with aliens ? A gateway to another dimension ?
Yes, I know it sounds daft, but we are living in truly crazy times, and it seems that nowadays absolutely anything is possible.
