Change Your Perception ( 10 )

Be aware of your body, and it is a good idea to carry this to the extreme.
Be fully aware when you are about to sit down. Concentrate on the action of doing this.

Concentrate on the action of your hand reaching out to turn a tap on. Be really aware of each tiny movement you make.

When you are washing your hands, look at the soap mix with the water as you rub your hands together. It is suggested that for these exercises, when you are alone, you slow down your movements. Then when you wash the soap off, concentrate on the action of doing so.

This awareness should be there from the moment you wake up, to the time you go to bed at night. You include every single action you do, from going to the toilet, to combing your hair, to drinking a cup of tea.

Sound simple and it is, but the fact is we never live like this. We are stuck in habits that make us imagine, or worry about our so called future, or think about our past. When are we really in the here and now ? Hardly ever, if at all, is the answer to that.

To bring us back to the eternal present we have to throw all our old habits of thinking out of the window. It's not easy I know, and the only way to do it seems to be to simply make yourself focus on every single action you do in the day, however mundane these actions may be.

It's hard at first as the stubborn ego tries to take you back to your normal mode of thinking, which really is a complete waste of time.

Simply remind yourself all the time to stay present in the present. When you wander away from doing this, gently bring yourself back to the all eternal Now. The other way to live is a lie.

The more you do this, the more you will want to do it, so regular focus on the Now is essential.

It must , though, be done, all the time.

Observe your thoughts and emotions without giving them energy. By that I mean do not be involved in your mind activity; just observe it like a scientist watching an experiment.

Try it and good Nows!
