What ? A Sane Politician !!

We all know that most of them are completely bananas. Who would want to be a Politician in today's sick world ? The strange thing about them is that most of them are from extremely rich families, and they could simply live a  high life doing what they want far away from the public eye. Yet they involve themselves with the murky, dirty world of politics.

Is is that their egos are on overdrive, or maybe they think they can change the world? Do they want to be remembered as ' a great person '.  The very, very few who really do try and make the world, or their country, a better place , are shot, or suddenly involved in a terrible scandal, or die in a plane crash, or die young of an illness.

Can you imagine what it must be like to live in fear of your life all the time because your policies have caused so much suffering to so many people ? That though is not correct. These people have no policies, they are just carrying out orders. The rewards though are very high. Just look at that terrorist Tony Blair who is now basking in incredible wealth. There is money in blood, and oil. That, I suppose, must be the attraction; lots and lots of cash. But at what price ? Being surrounded by security 24 hours a day; worrying about your family . Every move they make , every breath they take is watched. It must be hell. Maybe that is their real home, so they take it in their stride.

I was surprised to learn that, believe it or not, that there is one politician who is not reading the same script as the rest of ' the free world.'Yes, one brave soul who lives in Iceland. His name is Sigmunder Gunnlaugsson, and he is Iceland's Prime Minister Elect, whose Progressive party won l a few months back together with The Independent party.

Iceland, which in 2008 became the first nation to succumb to the arranged Global financial crisis, now enjoys faster economic growth than the E.U. average.

Iceland's new government said on 22.5.2013 that it will halt its E.U.bid. The Prime Minister Elect said he doesn't want to join a bloc in crisis as his own economy recovers.

I find it amazing that there is someone in politics who actually seems to be sane.

Unemployment in the Atlantic island is less than half the average in the E.U area.

I can't help wondering if this guy and his country are going to be punished for not reading off the prescribed script. Another volcano ?
