Newspeak.
This is a continuation of my ramblings about 'newspeak' in part six.
You had those two puppets, Bush and Blair, have the nerve to say that they wanted to bring democracy to Iraq, and at the same time proudly proclaiming that this was what they had in their own countries.
The irony is that they themselves had just proved the lie of this by totally ignoring what the majority of their democratic citizens wanted Nobody wanted the damned war.Unbelievable really! I mean, what sort of mindset do people like Bush and Blair have?
Here is the definition of a totalitarian regime.Government by a little group of leaders on the basis of an ideology that claims general validity for all aspects of life and usually attempts to replace religion.
Haven't you noticed how religion is slowly wheeled into the background? How all aspects of our life are controlled, so we live, think and act and talk in a certain way.
Peace Keeping Force.
To quote from Wikepidea again: "The U.N. peacekeeping forces have played a significant role in reducing levels of conflict, even though the fundamental causes of the struggles frequently remain"
So, all the peacekeeping forces are really doing is making sure that the conflict(murder, mayhem, rape etc.)continues on and on.If the fundamental causes of the struggle frequently( note , frequently, probably means always) remain the same, nothing has been solved.
A peace keeping force is thus a war keeping force
Retaliatory Strike.
Revenge usually out of all proportion to the initial attack, usually involving bombs. At the same time, as we have witnessed in the last few years, other countries that had nothing to do with the initial attack are also targetted, like Iraq was. What had that country do with 9 .11? Absolutely nothing.
Interrogation.
Doesn't sound that nasty a word, but in reality, as we have been discovering to our horror, it means torture.
Drones.
Original meanings of the word'drones' are ( according to the Free Dictionary by Farlex online);
:
1.A male bee, especially a honey bee that is stingless, performs no work and produces no honey. Its only function is to mate with the Queen Bee. If you're a bee, nice work if you can get it.
2.An idle person who lives off others; a loafer.
3.A person who does tedious or menial work..
4. A pilotless aircraft operated by remote control.
5 To make a continuous low dull humming sound.
6.Music.
7. To speak in a monotonous tone.
I have given all(well, nearly all) the definitions of 'drone' to show that when we hear the word, it comes across as a pretty harmless word with references to honeybee, music, humming sounds etc., but the word 'drone' as used in warfare refers to ( as stated in one of the definitions) a pilotless plane.
Sounds harmless, doesn't it?
The trouble is though , this harmless sounding ,humming honeybee type plane contains weapons with the sole intention of killing, destroying, maiming and causing untold suffering.
Collateral Damage.
Oh, do the war mongers love this word! These two words are used a lot in times of war. What they really mean is death and injury and suffering to innocent men, women and children
Conventional Weapons.
Conventional means ordinary, rather than different, and non nuclear. The implication here is, that, hey, these weapons are nothing to worry about; they are mundane, normal, not horrendous.
Try asking the people who have been maimed for life., crippled or blinded by them , if they agree.
That is the end of chapter seven.. Chapter eight will follow shortly..
