Carol King's Gershwin Prize.

Carol King, the amazingly talented singer- songwriter has become the first woman to be awarded the Gershwin Prize. for Popular Song. She sure deserves this. She has, and has always had , an uncanny knack of composing the most captivating, haunting melodies and lyrics that break right on through to your heart.

A fantasy of mine that I have had for years is to sit next to this lovely  lady and ask her how she manages to write such wonderful stuff ; how she transforms a few notes such as C D and E into such a strong melody; it's alchemy to me.How does she take the usual 8 bar 4/4 beat into a whole new experience ?

I think that she was one of the best pop writers of all time.I loved her early stuff, such as :

Crying In The Rain .Howard Greenfield was the co- writer on this.
Don't Bring Me Down.( with Gerry Goffin )
Halfway To Paradise.( with Gerry Goffin )
I'm Into Something Good.( with Gerry Goffin )
Will you  ( still ) Love Me Tomorrow ? ( with Gerry Goffin )
One Fine Day.( With Gerry Goffin )
Take Good Care Of My Baby. ( with Gerry Goffin .)
It Might As Well Rain Until September ( with Gerry Goffin )
You've Got A friend.

Maybe Gerry Goffin should also get that Gershwin Prize.

O .

But, what the heck has  The President of the' land of the free' go to do with such a talented person ?

Why the heck do we see Obama giving her this prize ?

It is, of course, so he looks  'hip ' and  'cool ' to use two words  that were in vogue when Carol King was truly in vogue. It's so Hollywood and so obviously done to give the President a good image. Hey man, he's O,K , he likes  good music ! Obama's in with the creative types.

This is strange because he does the exact opposite of what creative people do.
